When the inward tenderness finds the secret hurt, pain itself will crack the rock and ahhhh, let the soul emerge.
Rumi.
Sometimes, it’s difficult to pinpoint exactly what’s wrong, yet you feel it. You may be feeling anxious, depressed or ‘stuck’, lacking motivation and a lust for life; there may be difficulties in a relationship, it might be due to physical or mental health, experiences of grief, bereavement, trauma or transition. Working through challenging experiences and feelings in counselling helps to make sense of behaviour patterns and provides an opportunity to reset and create new meanings.
I know from personal experience that sitting with difficult thoughts and feelings is hard work; I will work at your pace and in a way that accompanies you to the edges of what you may be bringing, safely containing that within our therapeutic relationship. Sometimes, you may feel lighter after therapy, and other times, you may feel exhausted; this process is normal.
